THE SCHOOL...

Laguna Seca (Dry Lake), is a small village of 450 inhabitants, 3 kilometres outside the mountain town of Joyabaj in Guatemala. Read more information on Guatemala or find Laguna Seca on the map.

A primary focus for their attention, after the church, was a proper school for their next generation. The present school is very basic but well looked after, with potted plants outside its stick walls and bunting hanging from the corrugated iron roof. The seating is hewn wood and collected bricks, the yard outside is uncovered earth. The school has 63 children enrolled and 12 children not yet enrolled.

The plan is to build a permanent structure that will give pupils a comfortable learning environment.
